Lady Gaga Is Fighting Her Way Through Bayonetta

Over the last few weeks, singer/songwriter Lady Gaga, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, has been tweeting about the trials and tribulations of everyone’s favorite Umbran witch, Bayonetta.

The first tweet came three weeks ago, when Gaga tweeted “When you beat Chapter IV of Bayonetta and then realize Chapter V is going to kick your ass ☠️😂 secret #gamergirl THE SHADOW REMAINS TOUGH!!!!!!” in reference to the death screen of Bayonetta, where an older female voice announces “The shadow remains cast.” Nintendo of America’s Twitter account replied to the tweet in support.

Since then, the singer has been tweeting about her progress through the game, expressing consternation about the floating angel battleships in the tenth chapter that shoot at you from a distance with pinpoint accuracy. Most recently, she tweeted about how she’s been up until 4:00 a.m. trying to beat a “dragon with the face,” likely referring to The Cardinal Virtue of Justice boss fight in Chapter XI.

This tweet, however, got support from the game’s director, Hideki Kamiya. Kamiya has recently decided to stop responding to anyone that tweets at him in English, blocking them instead. He does, however, search the #Bayonetta hashtag for screencaps and messages and retweets them and seemingly decided to lend Gaga some of that emotional support she requested.

Nintendo is undoubtedly happy a major celebrity espousing love for one of their games, especially as Bayonetta makes her first base-roster appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It is also almost exactly one year ago that NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime announced Bayonetta 3 for the Switch, so maybe this will encourage Nintendo to release some footage for the game finally.

I am eager to hear what she thinks of Isla Del Sol, both the best and worst chapter of the game.
